Nuclear Medicine
St. John’s new dual head digital nuclear medicine cameras and upgraded software capture superior image resolution in a shorter period of time, providing referring physicians with more information relevant to the diagnosis and treatment of the patient. The nuclear medicine procedures at St. John’s Diagnostic Centers provide information about both the function and structure of the organs within the body.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of inside the body. This procedure is most commonly used to view the development of an unborn child, but also captures images of other organs. Ultrasound imaging provides real-time images of the inside of the body by exposing the body part to high-frequency sound waves. Also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, ultrasound exames do not use X-ray. The real-time nature of this exam is helpful in viewing movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through vessels.
Ultrasound imaging is a painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. An ultrasound might be used to diagnose symptoms such as pain, swelling, or infection. It is also a useful way to examine the function of internal organs and blood flow. Ultrasound also is used during certain procedures to guide interventional diagnostics.
X-Ray
X-ray, also known as radiography, is the most common form of imaging used primarily for quick evaluation.
