The Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at St. John’s Regional Medical Center offers individualized exercise and education programs for people who have had a recent heart attack, heart surgery or have experienced other cardiovascular incidents. Our goal is to increase our clients’ fitness level and function, while also increasing individual tolerance for exercise. The program encourages lifestyle adjustments and control of risk factors. Our multidisciplinary team of trained medical professionals works to achieve optimal health benefits for each client.
St. John’s Hospitals Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation is conveniently located just two traffic lights from the 101 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. The spacious, new rehab facility features a full-spectrum of equipment and a beautiful view of the St. John’s Healing Gardens.
What We Offer
The Cardiac Rehabilitation team works with the referring physician to evaluate each client’s needs, establish goals and coordinate an effective treatment program, including:
- telemetry monitored exercise
- emphasis on improving cardiovascular fitness
- strengthening program
- individualized home exercise program
- education to reduce risk factors
- education to assist with lifestyle changes
A typical program consists of three visits a week, each visit lasting approximately one hour, for 3-4 months.
Diagnoses We Treat
St. John’s Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs specialize in treating patients affected by:
- heart attack (myocardial infarction)
- coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
- valve repair and/or replacement
- heart transplant
- congestive heart failure
- PTCA with or without stent
- stable angina

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, together with medical and/or surgical treatments from your physician, assists clients in returning to full and productive lives. Our program is a safe way to help you

- gain support from other program participants.
Maintenance Program
After completion of our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, clients may use our maintenance program for continuation of supervised exercise aimed at maintaining consistent, healthy lifestyle habits. This service is available two to three times a week for a nominal fee.
Heart Fitness Program
The Heart Fitness Program consists of three phases. Phase I involves inpatient teaching designed to minimize risk factors for heart disease. Phase II is an outpatient program that entails close monitoring, education and exercise, as indicated. Phase III is an ongoing outpatient treatment plan where clients benefit from continued exercise at St. John’s for years to come.

Most insurance plans cover cardiac rehabilitation, though insurance coverage may vary according to diagnosis and benefits. This will be reviewed prior to service.
